Iftar with members of Grace Episcopal Church

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

The evening of July 15th. witnessed another wonderful Interfaith event in Queens. The Turkish Cultural Center Queens came together with Grace Episcopal Church to organize an Iftar Dinner for members of both communities. The event was held at the Grace Episcopal Community Center and was very well attended.

Imam Askia Mohammed and Fr. Darryl James both spoke about the traditions of their respective faiths and each one said the prayer before meal when the time came to break the fast, traditionally with a date and a drink of water, followed by some delicious Turkish food.

Everyone enjoyed the event and the meal and some new friendships were formed, which is what these events are all about; bringing people together in a setting which promotes harmony and peace between neighbors of different ethnicities, faiths and cultures.
