On Tuesday, November 20, 2009 Nazareth College partnered with the Turkish Cultural Center of Rochester to present the Ates-i Ask Sufi Music group along with a Whirling Dervish.
The program started at 7pm with a large, interested audience. Dr. Eisen, Director of International Studies at Nazareth College, and Mahmut Gedemenli, Coordinator of the Turkish Cultural Center of Rochester, spoke on behalf of the importance of cultural awareness in the Rochester community. Dr. Eisen expressed his thanks to the Turkish Cultural Center for its sponsorship to Nazareth College’s Turkiye trip as well as the Sufi Concert. Both institutions agreed to organize future joint cultural programs that promote friendship and dialogue. The program ended with an audience member trying to play an instrument from the group.
