kurban_bayrami_2010Turkish Cultural Center of Rochester is proud of organizing and hosting another successful event at its facility in Greece; Eid-al-Adha, one of the major Islamic holidays. The event gathered Anatolian and Ahiskan Turkish communities.

Guests first exchanged greetings and celebrated each other’s holiday in a warm and charming atmosphere while enjoying the dinner. Then Mr. Dogru offered a brief Qur’an recitation followed by an oral presentation by Eyup Sener, a columnist of Zaman newspaper. His speech covered the history, meaning, and importance of The Holiday. The parents and guests had an opportunity to enjoy watching a variety of performances by the weekend school students. The students successfully played their acts and instruments, sang Turkish songs, performed a folk dance called “kolbasti”, and recited some Qur’an verses that they memorized.

Finally, some senior citizens were called on to the stage to demonstrate how our children show respect to the elderly.
