On December 8, 2011 Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer kicked off a holiday Halal meat drive with the Turkish Cultural Center of New York (TCCNY) and City Harvest to commemorate the Muslim holiday of Eid ul Adha that encourages the donation of food to the hungry. In observance of the holiday, the Turkish Cultural Center has donated 1,000 pounds of packaged Halal meat that will be distributed throughout Manhattan’s homeless shelters by City Harvest.

The Abraham’s Table event that took place at the Turkish Cultural Center on Wednesday, June 15th introduced three women from the three Abrahamic religions to discuss the issue of women’s rights. Each woman explained the role of her religion in addressing this topic.
