Multicultural Business Expo

Turkish Cultural Center Long Island and Office of Assemblyman Phil Ramos organized the first Multicultural Business Expo in Long island. The UpSky hotel which the event were held brought 18 different countries together. TACC (Turkic American Chamber of Commerce) was among the sponsors for the program.
Nearly 250 guests from various businesses attended. Program started with networking hour with various companies and individual business people exchanging ideas and exploring opportunities. Global banks such as Citibank shared ideas on overcoming problems faced by the businesses owned by the minorities. Many sponsors opened up booths displaying their products and services.
Speaker of the New York State Assembly Carl E. Heastie, the New York Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Phil Ramos, Citibank New York Senior Vice President Davi Tserpelis , Charlie Liz from Suffolk County Minority Affairs and the President of Turkish Cultural Center New York Sadri Altinok were the main speakers.
MC of the night was Maryann Slutsky, Executive director of Long Island Wins which is a non profit organization working on Immigration issues in LI.
Spekaer Carl E. Heastie in his speech pointed out that businessmen from different cultural back ground can come together to form partnerships and friendship. NY State supports such organizations and businessmen. He added that they are always ready to provide support to the business world. Carl Heastie said he was really pleased with the efforts showed by the organizers to set up this event.
Assemblyman Phil Ramos, talking about the government support for the business world, he mentioned about incentives to do business in an organized industrial zone in Suffolk. He explained the tax breaks a business would get if they assemble a computer in a tax free zone compared to importing a computer from abroad.
CitiBank Vice President Davi Tserpelis talked about their investments, loans and services for the minority businesses. She explained the process to follow to benefit from these services.
TCC President Sadri Altinok who is also a businessman thanked his colleagues for taking part in such great organizations and talked about how this program would benefit minority business world in LI. He added that; “ We believe that tonight is the first of many multicultural business expo events in the years to come”
Stating their opinions about the night TACC president Mr. Celil Yaka expressed his satisfaction with the format of the program and promised to invite more business for the next event.
