Traditional Turkish Coffee Night on December 9th, 2015 was held at the Monroe Community College with the partnership of Global Union and the Student Life Department at MCC. It was a great program with the participation of more than a hundred and twenty students, staff, county officials and members of different communities.
MCC Representative Mrd. Audra Dion, the Assistant Director of International Student Services opened the program with her welcoming remarks. Legislator Cindy Walker Kaleh, 28th District, Chief Deputy David Phelps, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office made such great remarks about the event and Imam Ismet, ICR, Larry Kaleh, Jim Heisel were some of the well know figures of the community at the event.
Master of Ceremonies, Mehmet Ozen and Miray Akbaba done a great job with their presentations about the Turkish Culture and Coffee. Mensure Ozdemir performed the Water Marbling art known as Ebru and Ugur Yigit and Seyit Ali Sirin performed live music.
Legislator Cindy Kaleh, 28th District stated that this is a wonderful and informative evening at MCC with the Turkish Cultural Center of Rochester, Global Union International Students Association. Everyone was generous and warm offering not only coffee, dinner and entertainment but creating an atmosphere of global understanding and the opportunity to open up dialogue between different cultures Great job!
