The center has been working tirelessly to build stronger community relations by establishing long lasting friendship among diverse communities. “Turkey and the United States of America has so much in common than people realize” said the Vice President Mehmet Kilic who was honored this year as one of Brooklyn’s Rising Stars.

announcement1Today the French Parliament passed a bill making it a crime for anyone to deny that the tragic events of 1915 (which resulted in the death of many Ottoman Citizen, Turks and Armenians, in Eastern Anatolia) as a genocide against the Armenian people. The Turkish people (descendants of the Ottoman Empire) adamantly deny such false accusations and refer maters of unfounded allegations with differing views to historians and call for open debate and discussions.

photo-31Thanksgiving is a holiday when families get together to share and eat together around a table. However, there are some officers and firefighters who are on duty to serve the community. They make sure that the streets are safe and we are okay in our homes.

Thus, Turkish Cultural Center Brooklyn did not forget about our heroes this Thanksgiving. Members of the TCC Brooklyn cooked turkeys and served them along with rice, salad, and refreshments. "This is our way of thanks to our heroes." said Suleyman Aydogan, the Executive Director. Happy Thanksgiving to All!

DSC_09661Thursday, October 27th was the first annual Taste of Sheepshead Bay, an event involving more than twenty five local restaurants, live music... The food selection ranged from miso black cod to lobster bisque to lamb shank to peking duck to waffles and ice cream. Sponsored by Sheepshead Bites and Italian restaurant Il Forneto, the event drew close to 350 people to the Baron - a waterfront hall run by the Knights of Columbus.

Assemblyman who attended the event, William Colton, was very touched by the hospitality of the family. In addition to sharing the great variety of Turkish foods William Colton was also introduced to the assistant principal, Ismail Topkaya, of the Brooklyn Amity School.
