IMG_59631The 6th Annual Friendship Dinner hosted by the Turkish Cultural Center of Brooklyn, was themed 'Hate Crimes and Young Peacebuilders'.

"Unfortunately hate and hate crimes do not go away by pretending they dont exist. the true manner to put out the flames of hatred is by recognizing it, exposing and finally having those ind with the courage to stand against it. those heroes are who I like to call young peacebuilders", explained Zafer Akin, President of Turkish Cultural Center of NY.

FBI-logoTurkish Cultural Center Brooklyn collobarated with FBI and organized an event on Identity Theft, Internet Safety, and Counterterrorism. Many various threats are baing applied which affect us as individuals, as well as our families which in sum affects our society. Methods to reduce or protect ourselves from these threats were explained by FBI members. Question and answer discussion was very beneficial to our understanding of "protection."

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Turkish Consul General Mehmet Samsar gathered at the 5th Annual  Friendship Dinner at TCC Brooklyn on December 9, 2010. The Friendship Dinner organized by the Turkish Cultural  Center Brooklyn is dedicated to “Universal Education: Finding ways to contribute to the Education of the Youth.” Many  of the state and elected officials, educational institutions, business and community centers and religious organizations  joined the dinner.

TURKEY & UNITED STATES FRIENDS FOREVER

As Turkish Americans we strongly condemn the association of the Turkish Flag with the terrorists that attacked the United States on 9/11 as portrayed by the Christian Action Network. We feel it is very unfortunate and irresponsible for the Christian Action Network to align Turkey and the Turkish People with any extremist group. Considering the Turkish American alliance and the worldwide support provided to the United States by Turkey, we fear such an act will only go to strain and weaken Turkish American relations whereby placing America, the American Soldiers and the American People in greater peril.

altBrooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz visited Turkish Cultural Center during the month of Ramadan. Mr. Markowitz stressed about the similarities between Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. He said that all of 3 religions arose from the same Holy land. Jewish people and Christian do fast just like Muslims. He said that he is very proud to represent the Turkish community as he calls Brooklyn the capital of the Turkish people in the United States.
